Skin pigmentation treatment for Fitzpatricks

by LiamApr 9,2020Plasma Pen™ Treatment

The PlasmaPen is ideal for dealing with skin blemishes, scar reduction and mole removal, as well as pigmentation removal for Fitzpatricks types I – III, since skin pigmentation treatment is one of  PlasmaPen’s most successful areas and is always in high demand. Find out more below about what causes pigmentation along with the skin pigmentation treatments that you can offer to your clients.

What causes skin pigmentation?

Skin pigmentation is a side effect of the presence of melanin. Melanin in the skin is produced by melanocytes, which are found in the epidermis – the thin, top layer of our skin. Many forms of hyperpigmentation are caused by an excess production of melanin. Increased melanin production can be caused by sun damage (UV light), inflammation, or other skin injuries including those related to acne. As the body ages, melanocytes tend to clump together and the production of melanin is less controlled by the body.

What is the Fitzpatrick’s scale?

The Fitzpatrick skin phototype is a scale for classifying skin types based on skin colour, hair colour, and eye colour. There are 6 types, with 1 and 2 being pale with light hair and having a high risk of sun damage and of developing skin cancers. Types 3 to 6 are increasingly darker with decreasing risks of UV damage and cancer.

Can I use PlasmaPen as a skin pigmentation treatment for all my clients?

Many clients with skin type 3 and over are more likely to have dyschromia, which means that the skin is no longer of an even tone. Instead, they may have developed areas of light or dark patches, giving a mottled appearance. Unfortunately, by using the PlasmaPen as a treatment you risk hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation – and you may end up with an unhappy customer.

However, there is good news; you can offer a treatment in the form of our Wiqo anti-pigmentation reverse lightening serum, the ideal skin pigmentation treatment for clients with these skin types – and we talk more about this below.

Skin Pigmentation Treatments:

Skin pigmentation removal for Fitzpatrick’s I – III

The PlasmaPen can be used for pigmentation removal work on these skin types by reducing imperfections and creating a more even tone across the skin. In order to offer skin pigmentation treatments using the PlasmaPen, you will need to have undertaken the Advanced Technician course as this is a highly skilled treatment. However, once trained you will be able to charge a premium for this service and expand into skin pigmentation treatments as part of your repertoire.

Skin pigmentation treatments for Fitzpatrick’s IV-VI

Our reverse lightening and whitening serum is a topical treatment formulated to counteract and reverse skin imperfections caused by age, sun damage, melasma and hyperpigmentation. This skin pigmentation treatment can be used on clients across the Fitzpatrick’s scale and its active ingredients will work on pigmented areas and result in a smooth, luminous complexion. It can be used alongside PlasmaPen treatments and peels and can be used as both a preventative measure as well as a treatment for skin pigmentation already present.

By working with PlasmaPen and Louise Walsh International, you will be able to offer skin pigmentation treatments to your full client base, regardless of their skin tone or pigmentation issues.
