What You Need to Know about Fibroblast Skin Tightening

by PlasmaPenUSAMay 31,2022Plasma Pen™ Guide

Plasma Pen

Fibroblast skin tightening is a non-surgical procedure designed to restore the elasticity and firmness of the skin. It has been used to treat loose and sagging skin caused by ageing, sun overexposure or even weight loss. Fibroblast skin tightening can also be used to treat skin damage following burns or laser sessions.

How It Works

Fibroblast Skin Treatment uses a plasma pen and under topical anesthetic cream. It works through an electric arc that is discharged from the plasma pen without touching the skin. The discharge will then leave controlled micro-traumas in the skin, which heal in dot forms. The skin around these dots will shrink naturally to heal the micro-traumas instantly shrinking loose skin as the skin is ablated.

The scabs will fall off after a week, revealing several pale pink dots that will fade over time gradually. To speed up the fading of the dots, skin peel treatments may be used. On the other hand, they will disappear on their own within one to two weeks. It’s important to note that the exact healing time will depend on the person.

How Many Treatment Sessions are Needed?

The number of times one can do the treatment will depend on the original skin condition. There are cases when more than one treatment of plasma fibroblast may be required to achieve desired results.

Most of the time, patients are satisfied after a single treatment. However, up to three consecutive treatments may be performed on the same area over 12 week intervals.

Where are the Best Areas for Fibroblast Skin Treatment?

Almost all body areas that need lifting, tightening, and firming can be treated with Fibroblast Skin Treatment. It is most commonly used to treat sagging skin in the face, tummy, arms and knees.

What are the Results?

Once the dot scabs fall off, a noticeable improvement can be seen in the treated area. However, to see the complete results, it will usually take up to 12 weeks. It will also bring permanent results that last up to 3 years.

It’s essential to remember that the treatment will not halt the natural ageing process, but instead, it will help the skin stay smooth and tight until wrinkles or sagging occurs naturally in the coming years.

Who are the Best Candidates?

Candidates for fibroblast skin treatment include those with loose and sagging skin, as well as lax skin. Examples of such areas include the face, neck, armpits, abdomen, and hands.

How Long is the Recovery Time?

Recovery time following fibroblast skin treatment is similar to that of laser skin treatments. It may take one week to heal completely.  However with our PlasmaPen tinted Spf50++ balm, you can continue with your daily routine and activities, customer facing roles may require 3 days for the swelling to reduce around the eyes.  Other parts of the face and body this is not so important.

The Cost of a Fibroblast Skin Tightening Session

Fibroblast skin tightening treatment can be expensive, but it’s a safe and permanent solution for sagging of the skin. The cost of treatment can be determined by the condition of the skin and the areas to be treated.
