What causes wrinkles?
When it comes to understanding what really causes wrinkles, most people think that it naturally occurs with age or can be associated with too much exposure to the sun. However, as wrinkles are creases and folds in the skin, believe it or not, they can be caused by numerous other factors too, including:
- People’s facial expressions
- Smoking
- Some medications
- Environmental factors
- Genetic factors
- Stress.
As wrinkles occur when the elastin fibres (the key protein in skin which allows the body to return to shape once poked or prodded) become sunken, each of the above factors can all contribute to increasing the appearance of wrinkles.
For example, when the ageing process begins, the skin becomes less elastic and our skin begins to produce less natural oils. These factors combined can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles.
Prolonged exposure to the sun and smoking can also add to the mix, increasing the chances of wrinkles appearing on various parts of the face, including the forehead and eyes. The sun’s UV rays speed up the natural ageing process by breaking down elastin and collagen – the protein that helps with skin repair. As a result, the skin weakens and begins to sink, causing creases and folds.
In addition, smoking produces free radicals. These once-healthy oxygen modules become overactive, which can also contribute to the loosening of the skin.
Under eye wrinkles and wrinkles around the eye
Whether it’s upper eyelid wrinkles, under-eye wrinkles, crow’s feet, or infraorbital wrinkles (folds underneath the lower eyelid), when it comes to wrinkles, once they start to appear unfortunately there’s no going back.
We’ve all heard of botox or anti-wrinkle injections for getting rid of eye wrinkles and wrinkles affecting other areas of the face, such as the forehead and smile curves. These injectable fillers aim to relax facial muscles and make wrinkles in problem areas appear less obvious. However, they often come with pain and some side effects, such as bruising, facial pain, redness, and numbness.
Here at PlasmaPen, our revolutionary soft surgery device eliminates the need for any harsh anti-wrinkle injections that can impact the look of the entire facial architecture. PlasmaPen keeps skin looking flawless with no open wounds or thinning of the skin.
Using PlasmaPen to get rid of eye wrinkles
