There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Plasma Pen lately, and rightly so. It’s an innovative, non-surgical and non-invasive device that has taken the cosmetic world by storm. It’s unlike any other device on the market, and technicians are already seeing the positive impact it can have on customers, treatments and business success.
With our unique device, you can perform a wide range of cosmetic treatments, ranging from face lifts and scar removal, to sun damage correction and blepharoplasty. But, in order to provide these treatments to customers safely and professionally, you need to become a trained Plasma Pen technician.
In this blog, we have taken a look at how to become a Plasma Pen technician and the training options available to you.
Can Anyone Be a Plasma Pen Technician?
To put it simply, no, not everyone can be a Plasma Pen technician, not without the right background and training. The majority of insurers have specific standards that they require you to have, backgrounds that make you a suitable candidate for Plasma Pen. This includes being NVQ Level 3 qualified or an equivalent, which shows that you already have a good amount of relevant cosmetic knowledge. However, we do work with some insurers that put their complete faith in us, and accept being trained and certified by Louise Walsh as being enough to become a Plasma Pen technician.
At Plasma Pen, we are dedicated to vetting all potential technicians, and we have a handful of minimum standards that you must meet in order to book onto one of our training courses. This enables us to protect customers – by ensuring that everyone receives treatment from a qualified and skilled individual – and reduce the chances of someone offering Plasma Pen without the right training.
If you want to become a Plasma Pen technician, speak to our talented team about taking the next steps. We will consider your background, qualifications and capabilities, and provide more information on whether you are able to train.
Foundation Technician vs. Advanced Technician
There are two types of Plasma Pen technician training; Foundation Technician or Advanced Technician. Regardless of which you choose, you will be trained to a high standard in pre-treatment, treatment and post-treatment. If you train with us, you will be fully qualified in the theory, science, technique, treatment, aftercare and methodology of being a Plasma Pen technician.
● Foundation Technician – This is the first course that you will complete to be a Plasma Pen technician. Once complete, you will be fully qualified, certified and capable of delivering professional Plasma Pen treatments. Once you are a Foundation Technician, you have the choice to move onto our Advanced Technician course.
● Advanced Technician – This course takes what’s covered in Foundation Technician training to the next level. It dives deeper into the science and theory behind Plasma Pen, focusing on more challenging treatments. As an Advanced Technician, you will be trained in niche and high value treatments, such as facelifts, stomachs, arms and breast lifts.
What Treatments Does Plasma Pen Training Cover?
There are a lot of treatment options with Plasma Pen, so it makes sense that our training would cover a wide range of things. Many of the treatments are part of our Foundation Technician training, but high value and niche treatments are covered in our Advanced Technician training.
With Plasma Pen training, our aim is to provide you with the skills needed to provide the full range of treatments to customers. Plasma Pen training covers:
● Acne Scarring
● Arms, Hands and Legs
● Crow’s Feet
● Plasma Peels
● Jaw Line
● Jowls
● Brow Lifts and Forehead Tightening
● Blepharoplasty
● Eye Lifts
● Neck Lifts
● Face Lifts
● Scar Revision and Damage Repair
● Sun Damage Correction
● Mole Removal
● Post-Treatment and Aftercare
Making the Move from Another Device to Plasma Pen
If you have been trained on another device, you might be able to retrain to Plasma Pen without an additional cost. This all depends on what device you have been trained on, and who has trained you. It’s important that we recognise them as being high quality and professional. Our goal isn’t to profit from our Plasma Pen training, so we aren’t interested in training as many people as possible.
To receive a Plasma Pen certification at no extra cost, you need to have a valid certification for a quality device from a professional training provider, one that we recognise. If this is the case, you should already be trained in the science and treatment side of things, and so changing to a Plasma Pen device is somewhat simple. We don’t believe that you should have to pay to take things to the next level by swapping to a superior device, such as Plamsa Pen.
We know that a lot of our training and leadership is used by other training providers, and for other devices. So, if you have had the right training, we are happy to provide a refresher training course to enable you to update to Plasma Pen. As long as we are happy with your original training, and the training has been done recently, we can certify you as a Plasma Pen technician.
