Do I Qualify for Fibroblast Treatment?

by Liam CampbellNov 11,2022Plasma Pen™ Advice

Fibroblast

Fibroblasting is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses PlasmaPen technology. It’s designed to tighten loose skin and reduce excess skin, and it does this by specifically targeting a type of cell called fibroblasts. Using a large amount of energy, fibroblasting makes a small wound in targeted areas of the skin, which encourages fibroblasts to repair the area. As the skin repairs, it becomes tighter and firmer, reducing the appearance of saggy and loose skin.

Unfortunately, fibroblast treatment is not suitable for everyone, and not everyone is considered to be a good candidate. For example, you must be in good general health and be at a stable weight. Having fair to medium skin is also beneficial, as is having moderate skin looseness. Below, we have taken a look at what makes for a good fibroblast candidate.

Good Candidates for Fibroblast Include:

In Good General Health

It’s important to be in good general health at the time of your fibroblast treatment, with no pre-existing health conditions. A good candidate for fibroblast treatment should not have diabetes, be pregnant or breastfeeding, should not have lymphatic drainage issues or a healing disorder. You also will not qualify for fibroblast treatment if you have a pacemaker or you are susceptible to scarring. Though fibroblast treatment focuses on skin, it’s important that your entire body is healthy before getting started.

At or Near a Stable Weight

As fibroblast treatment can treat loose skin on the body, it’s a popular treatment for those who have recently lost a lot of weight. However, the results aren’t as effective if you continue to lose a significant amount of weight afterwards. If you are not at a near or stable weight, you might need to change this before you can undergo fibroblast treatment. If you plan to continue to lose a lot of weight in the future, it might be better to wait and have fibroblast treatment afterwards.

Fair to Medium Skin

Fibroblast treatment is recommended for those with fair to medium skin tones. This is because fibroblast treatment can cause hyperpigmentation, which is a risk for anyone with darker skin. Though anyone can experience hyperpigmentation of the skin after fibroblast treatment, it’s unlikely to be permanent on people with fair to medium skin. If you are prone to hyperpigmentation or you are worried about having the correct skin tone, consider having a patch test done before treatment. This might put your mind at ease.

Have Moderate Skin Looseness

In order to see the impressive results of fibroblast treatment, you need to have moderate skin looseness. Otherwise, it’s likely that there won’t be enough loose skin to work with. After all, the treatment is aimed at shrinking, tightening and reducing the volume of excess skin in targeted areas of the body.
