Plasma Pen

We are asked a lot of questions about PlasmaPen and we understand why. It’s an innovative, unique and impressive treatment option, so it makes sense that patients and practitioners alike will have questions. You might have heard about PlasmaPen and want to offer it to your clients, or you might be looking to expand your cosmetic services and think PlasmaPen is ideal. Whatever the reason for being interested in PlasmaPen, you need to know what it takes to use one.

One of the most common questions relates to whether or not you need a licence to use PlasmaPen, as there’s a lot of conflicting information out there. To help you out, we have dedicated this blog to finding the answer.

Do You Need a Licence to Use a PlasmaPen?

PlasmaPen makes it a lot simpler to provide a wide range of cosmetic treatments to patients, but that doesn’t mean that anyone can pick up a device and get to work. After all, how would you know what you’re doing? In order to use a PlasmaPen effectively, you need to have a background in cosmetics and aesthetics. For the most part, you need to have an NVQ Level 2 qualification, or you need to have completed our Foundation Training or Advanced Training course. These will give you the skills you need to get the most out of the device.

There are a range of courses out there, but we go above and beyond to ensure that you always have the right PlasmaPen training available to you. We cover everything from the basics – after all, it’s always good to familiarise yourself with the basics of fibroblast treatment, regardless of how much experience you have – to the more complex treatments, giving you the knowledge and experience needed to use a PlasmaPen.

Is PlasmaPen a Medical Device?

The PlasmaPen is a device that provides non-surgical, non-invasive skin treatments. It’s able to

tighten, lift, rejuvenate and boost any area of the skin, solving various skin complaints as it goes. There are three different types of PlasmaPen device, and they all work in a similar way. There are key differences, but once you can use one, you can use them all. The PlasmaPen device is not medical, it’s an aesthetic and cosmetic tool, enabling clinicians to provide a wide range of impressive treatments. It’s considered to be extremely safe and relatively risk free, which is why it has quickly become the ‘go to’ device for industry leaders.

What Training is Needed for PlasmaPen?

One of the great things about PlasmaPen is how simple and straightforward the device is to use, but that doesn’t mean that you can simply pick it up and start treating patients. To ensure you provide a high quality and professional service, you need to undergo training. There are a variety of places that provide PlasmaPen training, but we pride ourselves on covering everything. Whether you want to provide a handful of treatments or a wide range, our experts can guide you through. We offer two types of training, Foundation Training and Advanced Training, both of which we have detailed below.

Foundation Training

Before you are able to start using a PlasmaPen, you need to complete Foundation Training. To do so, you will need to have some experience of working in aesthetics. This could be a Level 2 beauty or aesthetics qualification, which showcases your abilities. Our Foundation Training is an accredited course and everything is done via an online training portal. During the 20 hours of learning, you will have a mixture of theory work and practical work, all of which is aimed at building your PlasmaPen experience.

The theory training for PlasmaPen is an online assessment and various topics are covered. Everything from skin anatomy and physiology, to skin disorders and pigmentation, are looked at. Foundation Training will also cover the basic principles of fibroblast treatment works and safety in the workplace. In regards to the practical part of Foundation Training, you will complete various consultations and client assessments, and perform a variety of skin tightening techniques. Afterwards, you will be qualified to use a PlasmaPen to treat upper and lower eyelids, crows’ feet and skin rejuvenation treatments.

Advanced Training

Once you have completed Foundation Training, you can choose to further your knowledge by embarking on our Advanced Training course. This will expand the range of PlasmaPen treatments that you can offer, expanding your knowledge and skill set. Our Advanced Training course requires 25 hours of studying, all of which is done via our online portal.

As part of Advanced Training, you will cover a range of PlasmaPen topics in a lot more depth than you did in the Foundation Training course. You’ll learn how to treat more complex skin conditions such as moles, acne, scars and thread veins. You will also learn how to treat a variety of different skin types, giving you the confidence to tailor your treatment to each individual patient. Our Advanced Training course is a more detailed and informative look at what’s possible with a PlasmaPen device.

When it comes to PlasmaPen, our knowledgeable team has everything you need to get started. Whether you are wanting to become a qualified PlasmaPen practitioner starting from scratch, or you want to build on your existing knowledge, we are on hand to help.
